“The Centenary Entertainment Contest will be an exciting way to commemorate a hundred years of contesting heritage in South Australia’s renowned Barossa Valley,” SA Band Association president Dr Kevin Cameron said today.
“This is an exciting opportunity to showcase bands in a different light, with South Australian media identity Peter Goers to be the celebrity adjudicator alongside music adjudicator Major Graham Lloyd.”
The SABA is seeking expressions of interest by 28 May from brass and concert bands of all grades in taking part in the Centenary Entertainment Contest, after which up to five bands will be selected by the SABA’s Music Advisory Board to participate.
The evening event in Tanunda’s Brenton Langbein Theatre will follow the State Band Championships for brass and concert bands across the various Senior and Junior Grades, each of which will involve the performance of a Sacred Item, Own Choice Major Work and Concert Item.
Event details can also be found on the Barossa Band Festival’s website at http://bbf.twfn.org.
