Good response to Wainstones Cup

£4,000 top prize brings good initial response from bands to new contest.

As reported recently on 4BR, the entry portal for the inaugural Wainstones Cup Trophy has seen a good initial response.

Response

Spokesman John Steel told 4BR: "I couldn’t believe how quickly the first six bands’ entries came through, all within 4 minutes. Now we are waiting for further responses from a number of bands who have initially contacted us for further details."

The Martin Bequest entrusted £300,000 to its trustees to organise an annual ‘world class’ brass band competition. The event will take place on Saturday 17th July at The Gala Theatre, Durham City.

Encouraging

John is hopeful that after a highly encouraging response to the first news of the contest, bands will now be in a position to know if they can make arrangements to add the exciting event to their busy contest calanders.

He added: "Judging from the number of pre-entry enquiries I feel sure that other bands will want to enter now that furtehr details have been released."

Entries still open

John revealed that the bands that have entered so far are all ranked in the 4BR top hundred.

Entry is still open at www.doctormartintrust.com but for those who wish to speaki to John personally before committing to the event, they can contact him on 01325 482 901.
