Stalybridge Old Band has announced the appointment of Alan Hobbins as Musical Director.

The band have been without a permanent MD since January.

Band Manager Audrey Greenwood told 4BR: "Thanks are due to Eric Landon who worked so hard with the band preparing us for the area contest at Blackpool in March, and leading us to a very creditable 5th place in the Third Section."

Audrey also added: "Thanks are also due to Mark Wilkinson who stepped in to lead the band at the Tameside Contest."
