Three top class brass soloists have made it through to the final of the 5th European Solo Competition tonight at the Brucknerhaus in Linz, where it is to be a battle for glory between performers from Belgium and Scotland.

Former champions

The current British Open Solo Champion, Belgian cornet player Harman Vanhoorne, will compete in the Conceto Final against compatriot, euphonium star, Glen Van Looy and baritone virtuoso Katrina Marzella.

Both Glen and Katrina are also former British Open Solo Champions.

The individual titles were decided as follows:

Tuba: Ross Knight (Scotland)
Cornet: Harmen Vanhoorne (Belgium)
Horn: Tim De Maeseneer (Belgium)
Baritone: Katrina Marzella (Scotland)
Trombone: Audun Breen (Norway)
Timpani: Martin Sedlmeier from Austria
