Wycherley recovers from heart attack

Foden’s soprano star is back home and looking forward to a quick return to top flight banding after heart scare.

Foden’s soprano star Alan Wycherely has returned home from hospital after suffering a heart attack last week.

Heart attack

Alan had initially thought he was suffering with a nasty bout of indigestion late last Wednesday evening, but after a sleepless night was taken to hospital by ambulance, where he was immediately diagnosed as having suffered a heart attack.

The 52 year old underwent an operation to free a clot on an artery and returned home this morning after a period of recuperation.

Superb

Alan spoke to 4BR on the weekend whilst still in hospital, and has been grateful for the care he has received at the local Stepping NHS Hospital.

As soon as I‘m given the OK by the doctors I will be back playing. It’s the first real rest I’ve had since I started all those years ago, so I’ll make the most of itAlan Wycherley

Scare

"It was a scare," Alan told 4BR. "I didn’t think it was anything like a heart attack – more like nasty indigestion. Once I was taken to hospital though the care I received was superb. The operation was a complete success and I have been able to relax with everyone treating me so well."

Return

Alan is also determined to return to Foden’s as soon as he is given the green light and to carry on with a soprano playing career that has ranked as one of the greatest in the history of the modern banding movement.

He first appeared on the championship section stage as a 15 year old with Fairey’s and has subsequently gone on to play his part in some notable banding successes, including multiple British Open and National titles.

Back playing

Sounding upbeat and relaxed he add: "As soon as I‘m given the OK by the doctors I will be back playing. It’s the first real rest I’ve had since I started all those years ago, so I’ll make the most of it, enjoy some time with Sachi (his wife) and the family and then make sure my lip is OK to return with Foden’s."

Thanks

Alan has been touched by the number of people from all over the banding world who have already try to contact him since his hospitalisation.

"I never knew so many people knew me. Sachi has been inundated. I will promise I will reply to everyone as soon as I can, but I must thank them all for their concern."
