Cai Isfryn wins OBAF composition contest

This year's Ohio Brass Arts Festival composition contest was won by Cai Isfryn.

Friday marked the third annual Ohio Brass Arts Festival composition contest.

Friday evening, the Repertoire Band (a sight reading band consisting of members of the various bands and ensembles performing at this year’s Ohio Brass Arts Festival), played through the seven finalists. Upon completion of these pieces, the members of the Repertoire Band voted for their top three.

The votes were split up amongst the seven pieces, supporting the fact that most every finalists gained favour with at least some of the contingent. However, the top three ended up separating themselves from the rest of the mix.

The top three compositions (as voted by the Repertoire Band) were...
1) Vengeance (Tonnau’r Cawr) by Cai Isfryn
2) When Annie Met Lydia by Ian McElligott
3) Airpower by Edwin de Neijs

The Ohio Brass Arts Festival would like to congratulate Mr. Isfryn who will receive the cash prize of $200 USD. They would also like to congratulations all of the entrants for their hard work, and hope to see many more next year!!
