Cheshire Constabulary head for Harrogate beat

Cheshire Constabulary Band will be heading for a new musical beat in September following their qualification for the National Finals.

Cheshire

Cheshire Constabulary Band is still celebrating after recently earning their second successive appearance at the Lower Section National Finals, following their podium finish in the Third Section regional contest at Blackpool.

Go compare

MD Dave Woollam told 4BR: "The regionals are always a bit of a toe in the water for the band as we generally enter just one contest a year. Consequently we never really know how we compare until the day so we were especially pleased with our 3rd place finish in our first outing in Third Section."

The band is not a prolific contesting outfit — it only returned to contesting three years ago — but since then they have gained promotion to the Third Section after coming 6th in the Fourth Section finals at Harrogate last year.

Busy

September will be a busy month for the band as they travel to Germany, just a week before the finals.

Dave Woollam added: "The band would like to offer its congratulations to all qualifying bands, especially their colleagues from South Yorkshire Police who will be competing in Second Section."
