Bb tuba player Dave Long has announced that he will be retiring from playing with Carlton Main Frickley Colliery at the ripe old age of 34!
Baby boom
The baby boom in South Elmsall is continuing with Dave stepping down to spend time with his ‘soon to arrive’ first child.
Dave told 4BR: "Sadly this year’s area contest will be my last competition. Carlton Main is very busy this year and with my partner expecting our first child at the beginning of June it meant I am unable to commit to either the International Masters or the English Championships."
Out on a high
Dave added: "I’ve enjoyed playing with the band and it feels good to step down on such a high after qualifying for the Nationals Finals at St Georges Hall. We put on a terrific performance and I will remember it as one of my proudest moments in banding. I wish everyone at Carlton Main all the very best for the future and will keep tabs on their progress via 4BR."
