Penclawdd invest in youth

Penclawdd Brass have investing in talented youngsters to head their Swansea Area challenge.

Brangwyn Hall

Penclawdd Brass will spearhead their forthcoming Welsh Area Championship challenge with a host of talented young performers in the ranks.

Young stars

Young stars Jessica Ronan (cornet) and Rhian Biache (baritone) will play alongside returning players including Ryan Mathhews (former principal cornet of the National Youth Band of Wales and principal trumpet of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales), John Morgan (principal trumpet British Police Orchestra) and Dr Rhodri Stacey (ex NYBBW).

I'm sure not many bands will be able to boast taking to the stage with 15 former National Youth Band of Wales players including two former principal cornets!MD, Tony Small

Experience

The experienced soprano player Gurnos Rees also returns as does Matthew George (ex NYBBW and Black Dyke Mills Band) and Paul Gratrix (former principal Tuba NYOW and graduate of Royal College of Music, who makes his debut on on percussion)

Top 15

Also helping out on percussion is talented tenor horn player Michelle Hughes.

MD Tony Small told 4BR: "I'm sure not many bands will be able to boast taking to the stage with 15 former National Youth Band of Wales players including two former principal cornets!"
