Brass band fans will be delighted to hear that Midsummer Brass is returning on Saturday, July 10th.
Absence
After a five year absence this well supported event will once more take place in Worcestershire’s picturesque market town of Pershore.
Midsummer Brass started in 1990 to encourage brass band music in Worcestershire and soon grew into an established part of the banding year.
However in 2004, a change of use proposal for the local Angel Hotel meant that the committee had to reluctantly call it a day.
Returning success
However the development has not taken place and a small group of enthusiasts with the support of the original founder, Gordon Hartley- Bennett are now working hard to make the event a resounding success.
This unique non competitive event runs from 10am -10pm and will feature 20 bands. Some of the country’s leading championship bands have eagerly signed up alongside local bands to play for the pleasure of entertaining local people and visitors

Three venues
The three main venues are the magnificent Pershore Abbey, a marquee in the grounds of the Angel Inn and Pershore Baptist Church. Each venue is different in character, calling for the bands to perform music of contrasting styles and moods.
Wanderer
Youth and junior bands will be playing in Chapman Court, while budding musicians of all ages will have the opportunity to try and play an instrument.
A wanderer’s wristband for £10 (under 10’s go free) offers the opportunity to hear over 40 concerts throughout the day.
A new website www.midsummerbrass.org.uk will give more information nearer the event.
