The North of England Regional Committee held a test piece workshop on the weekend.

Held at the Masonic Hall in Chester-le -Street, the event was sponsored by Dennis Todd Music and was directed by Richard Evans.

Painstaking

Richard worked painstakingly through the tests for the Fourth, Third and Second Sections with the help of the indefatigable Easington Colliery Band.

Over forty delegates attended — a fine turn out given the terrible weather.

Regional Secretary Alan Hope told 4BR: "Feedback was very complimentary and all agreed that they had learned some very useful tips, techniques and understanding of the music and its problems from Richard who, as usual was at his brilliant and entertaining best throughout the day."

Alan also revealed that it is hoped that the workshop will be repeated in 2011.
