Name change for Co-op

There has been a slight change of moniker for Yorkshire Co-operative Band.

Co-op

Yorkshire Co-operative Band will be undergoing an official name change.

Re-brand

Though it will still be known as 'Yorkshire Co-op', thanks to a renewed annual deal with The Co-operative Group, the band will now officially be known as 'The Co-operative Yorkshire Brass Band' to keep in-line with the re-brand of the company.

Grateful

Bands Manager Tabby Clegg told 4BR: "The band is very grateful to The Co-operative for its continued support and we continue to work hard to maintain the values and policies of the company. In a time where funding for bands is precious it is an honour to maintain the company’s support, which leaves us as one of a handful of bands still supported by The Co-operative."

She added: "Following another re-brand by the company last year it does mean yet another change of name for official purposes, however, the band will still fondly be known as Yorkshire Co-op and it will continue to fly the flag for both the band and the Company."

Euro invite

The band has also been invited to compete at the Euro Brass Championships in Drachten, Holland in June.

Tabby added: "As of yet we have not formerly accepted the invitation but hope to do so in the next few weeks, subject to securing the finances necessary at short notice. The invitation is a great honour and will allow the band to showcase its versatility in an entertainment festival which is something it thrives on."
