St Helens get organised for Xmas

The St Helens Youth Band has been getting organised for Christmas — with 32 jobs up to the big day.

Rumour has it that the Royal Logistics Corps are looking to recuit the concert secretary from St Helen's Youth Band, Kay McCallum, after her amazing efforts to arrange and organise no less than 32 engagements for the band from the 1st to the 24th of December.

Locations

Band members will have performed in small ensembles to half and full band appearances, in a number of locations across St Helens and Merseyside, including Golf clubs, churches, supermarkets, hotels and even an airport.

It has not only involved ensuring that all the band members arrive on time at the right venue, but all the music, kit, and other paraphernalia is there as well.

Ohio invite

Band Spokesperson, David Richardson told 4BR: "The aim of the mammoth undertaking is to raise funds to participate in the 2010 Ohio Brass Arts Festival in April, which we have been invited."

He added: "The Festival takes place in Columbus, and whilst there the band will not only take part, they will also be giving concerts at other locations in the city."

£50,000

The fundraising commences again after Christmas, with several major concerts already confirmed along with other money raising events, all helping towards the £50,000 required.
