Macclesfield based Silk Brass has made a big sound and raised more than £3,000 for local charities this year.
Three charities
The three charities of East Cheshire Hospice, Odd Rode and District Cancer Research UK and Marton Church of England Assisted Primary School, have benefitted from a series of successful concerts staged by the band during the past six months.
Bulk of money
The bulk of the money was raised as a result of the band linking up with Odd Rode Cancer fund raisers.
Band chairman Barry Worth provided a marquee for a joint event which alone raised over £2,000. The marquee had been used the previous day for the wedding of his daughter.

Lovely venue
Mary Tipping, head of the cancer fund committee, told 4BR that they were delighted at the result from the luncheon. "It was a lovely venue for the occasion and we thank Silk for playing so beautifully during the afternoon. It really was a day to remember."
The rest of the cash from other events, including a concert given for the school, will be donated to the band’s two other charities.
