David Thornton is to feature in Manger Musikklag's 'The Very Best in History' concert series later this month.

Black Dyke euphonium star David Thornton will be playing a central role in Manger Musikklag's concert series 'The Very Best in History' this weekend.

Finest music

The long standing series has taken music from each decade of the 20th century and started in 2006. By its close in 2012, the series will hopefully have showcased some of the finest brass band music ever written.

David gave a positively amazing performance of my euphonium concerto. He is now the third generation of players who have joined the 'inner circle' of my favouritesJoseph Horovitz

1970s

This time it is the music from the 1970s and compositions from the pens of Edward Gregson, Eric Ball, Joseph Horowitz and Malcolm Arnold.

David Thornton will perform Joseph Horowitz 'Euphonium Concerto', after the composer himself stated after a previous performance, "David gave a positively amazing performance of my euphonium concerto. He is now the third generation of players who have joined the 'inner circle' of my favourites."
