Chalford prepare for 125th year

The Chalford Band in Gloucestershire is preparing with a boost to morale for their 125th anniversary.

Chalford

With an enhanced line-up of players and spurred on by recent contest successes, Gloucestershire's Chalford Band has told 4BR that it is in fine fettle and eagerly looking forward to their 125th anniversary celebrations next year.

Leading group

Founded in 1885, the band is Stroud's leading brass group which fields four ensembles — from the First Section Senior Band and Fourth Section Academy Brass, to its Youth and Junior Bands with players of all ages and abilities.

MD Steve Tubb and his players recently won two trophies at the SWBBA contest at Torquay, a good morale booster they believe for the coming year4BR

Family

The Chalford 'family' will be putting on a number special events including hosting a return visit by the Pionier Band from Gouda, Holland.

Boost

MD Steve Tubb and his players recently won two trophies at the SWBBA contest at Torquay, a good morale booster they believe for the coming year.

The band has welcomed back two former players, Les and Marie Pearse on euphonium and horn respectively, whilst Richard Grant, formerly solo trombone with Nailsworth, is another new recruit, this time on Bb tuba.
