Last Friday, 100 members and friends of Killamarsh Silver, Dronfield and Maltby Miners Bands held a black-tie charity ball in aid of Cavendish Cancer Care.
And by the end of the evening over £1,300 had been raised for Killamarsh Band's adopted charity for 2009.
Nominated
Each year a local charity is nominated by the members of the band and over the last two years in excess of £1,000 has been raised for Ashgate Hospice, Chesterfield and Bluebell Wood Childrens' Hospice, Dinnington.
Killamarsh Band Chairman, Francis Hargate told 4BR: "We had hoped to raise at least a £1,000 on the night but when I got the final figure it was fantastic to discover it was so much."
