ABBA joins conductors for tests

There will be an open house policy at the forthcoming ABBA AGM as the judges and the conductors come together to discuss and analyse the 2010 Regional test pieces.

There will be an 'Open House' welcome at the forthcoming Association of Brass Band Adjudicators AGM.

The event will take place at Cleckheaton Sports Club, Bradford Road, Cleckheaton, Yorkshire BD19 5AG, starting at 12.30.pm on Sunday 3rd January 2010.

Workshop

ABBA will be holding their AGM during the morning, but following their meeting they will join forces with No2 Area of The National Association of Brass Band Conductors in promoting an Open Workshop covering the chosen works for Sections 2, 3 & 4 of the 2010 Regional test pieces.

Open

The free workshop will be open to any interested party and each piece will be introduced by a member of ABBA who will outline the various points of interest from an adjudicating aspect.

Contribute

Skelmanthorpe Band and their conductor John Roberts has been engaged for the workshop, and ample opportunity will be given to members of the NABBC and anyone present to contribute both practically and verbally during the exploration of each piece.

It is proposed to allow anf hour and a quarter for each work with a break for light refreshments at some stage during the proceedings. It should all come to a close around 4.30pm.

Public Relations Officer Malcolm Brownbill told 4BR: "In promoting this workshop the two Associations are keen to encourage a large attendance. It will provide an excellent opportunity for players, conductors, adjudicators and all who have an interest in competitions to exchange views on the many varied aspects of contest promotion, preparation and adjudication."

Wotton-under-Edge Silver Band

November 4 • We are a busy and very friendly 2nd section band with 5 current vacancies - FRONT ROW CORNET – BACK ROW CORNET- EUPHONIUM - Bb BASS - PERCUSSION. We rehearse on Tuesdays & Thursdays near our lovely home town, just a short drive from M5, J14.


Harlow Brass Band

November 4 • We have vacancies for CORNETS, TROMBONES, 2ND HORN AND PERCUSSION. We are a welcoming, non contesting band who organising their own Spring and Christmas concerts and enjoy playing at local events throughout the year.
