Bands get ready for Pontins and OZ Open

4BR will be at both ends of the banding globe this weekend to bring you coverage of the Pontins Championship and Australasian Open.

They may be at different ends of the banding globe, but players, supporters and conductors alike are getting ready to enjoy contesting by the sea in Wales and Australia on the weekend.

Pontins

69 bands will battle it out for the Pontins Championship prizes in Prestatyn in North Wales, for the 36th time, with a real old wodge of prize money up for grabs in each of the five sections.

It all gets underway on Saturday morning, but not before the delights of a wayward Friday night in the Lunars Hall.

With no expense spared (or claimed for) 4BR will be at both events to cover the music (and possible mayhem) that will ensure4BR

Australasian Open

Meanwhile, thousands of miles away on the Tweed Coast in Queensland, the Federation of Australian Bands holds its 2nd Australasian Open and Entertainment Contest.

With no expense spared (or claimed for) 4BR will be at both events to cover the music (and possible mayhem) that will ensure.

Seaside venues

By all accounts the sea is just 80 meters away from the Coolangatta venue, so anyone can strip off and enjoy a relaxing dip to soothe pre contest nerves. Anyone found having a dip in the sea at Prestatyn will be carted away by men in white jackets.
