Rothwell Temperance Band has taken the opportunity to thank more than just their usual players who made the performance possible on the weekend.
Deputy euph
The band's regular solo euphonium, Andy Marsh, was working in Japan and so Mark Bousie stepped in to perform the difficult euphonium part at short notice.
A band spokesperson told 4BR: "We were very grateful to Mark for stepping in and helping us out. He was a great asset to the band on stage, and he also made himself available for many rehearsals."

Technical problem
Meanwhile on the morning of the contest, one of the band's back row cornet players developed a technical problem with their instrument, which resulted in one of the valves not working.
Thankfully, a quick call was placed through to the hall, and a supporter was dispatched to the Band Supplies trade stand to obtain a temporary replacement.
The spokesperson added: "We would like to thank Band Supplies for helping us out of this tricky situation with the loan of a brand new cornet — it certainly paid off!"
