At a recent social evening organised by Creetown Silver Band, Gillian McKnight was presented with her Life Membership medal of the Scottish Brass Band Association by Peter Fraser.

This was followed by the presentation of a commemmorative glass plaque from the band by the band's oldest member and president, Harry Heaver. A good number of band members, friends and relatives were present to see Gill receive the well deserved award.
Gillian started lessons at the age of 9 and started playing in the band two years later. She has been a constant member ever since, having played cornet, soprano and flugel before finally settling on the euphonium.
Gill's great grandfather, John Barr, was a founder member of the Creetown Band in 1880 and that there has always been at least one representative of that familiy in the band4BR
Valuable
Taking over the post of secretary from her father in 1988, Gill continued in this position till 2008. She continues to be a valuable and hard working committee member and is still involved in teaching the youngsters in the very successful junior group.
Founder
Gill has played with the Benwhat Band and is now travelling to play with the Irvine and Dreghorn Band.
