Martlesham make musical fun

Martlesham Brass has been making music fun in East Anglia — from 9 to their most improved player aged 96!

Martlesham Brass recently celebrated their 13th birthday with a concert featuring music from all four sections of their organisation, as well as presenting their awards to their most improved players.

Highlight

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the ‘Bandsperson of the Year’ Shield to their oldest player and President, Bill Bell aged 96.

Conductor Adam Cable, presented the award and spoke of Bill’s enthusiasm, dedication and good humour as well as his contribution to the life of the band.

Bill Bell is an all round musician who provides a wonderful example to all the other band membersAdam Cable, MD

All round musician

He told 4BR: "He is an all round musician who provides a wonderful example to all the other band members."

Ages

Martlesham Brass has grown from an original group of 26 players in 1996, to a current membership of 101, with ages ranging from 6 to 96.

They are led by team of dedicated bandleaders and assistants who help to provide a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere where anyone can learn to play a brass instrument.
