Dalmellington, conducted by Archie Hutchison, completed a hat trick of wins at the 64th Fife Charities Band Association Contest held in Kirkcaldy last weekend.
Awards
Performing Philip Sparke’s 'Dances & Alleluias', Dalmellington also won the prize for 'Best March' and 'Hymn Tune', as well as individual awards for cornet, euphonium and trombone.
Runner up
Runners up Kingdom Brass pushed them all the way with an exciting performance of their testpiece, 'Extreme Makeover', with new Musical Director Andy Duncan conducting the band in his first contest.
Kingdom also won an individual award for the best horn and the best percussion section.
Dalmellington also won the prize for 'Best March' and 'Hymn Tune', as well as individual awards for cornet, euphonium and trombone4BR
Third place
Third place in the Open Contest went to Bo’ness and Carriden, who performed 'Tallis Variations', conducted by Bede Williams.
The final sectional award for the best bass section went to Johnstone Silver, conducted by Raymond Tennant.
15 bands competed over the day, and the adjudicators were Peter Roberts and Allan Ramsey.
