The main attraction for many tonight in St Helens in Merseyside is the rugby league game against arch rivals, Wigan, but there is also the opportunity to hear The Cory Band in concert as part of St Helens Live 2009.
Capital of Culture events
Brass Band events supported by St Helens Council were integral to their Capital of Culture 2008 programme in Liverpool with the the March and Hymn Festival and Concert programme.
Cory's appearance in St Helens builds on the brass band events that were integral to the Capital of Culture in Liverpool in 20084BR
Support in 2009 has continued with more events and included the 'Dream' sculpture celebrations that showcased local bands.
Council support continues, as plans are being drawn up for the St Helens Live events 2010, with a concert programme and the very successful March and Hymn Festival but this year's 2009 events will culminate with a flourish.
