After 3 years of maintaining Yeovil Town Band's Championship Section status, Dave Barringer has resigned as their Professional Conductor.
Reasons
Dave told 4BR: "I have been with Yeovil Town band for almost 3 years now, ever since I left Woodfalls in 2006. However, my role with the band has become less and less recently for a number of reasons."
He added: "Also, since Kevin Robbins was appointed Resident Conductor, it has always been our intention for him to eventually take over the reigns completely; and that time has now come.
I have loved every minute of working with the band — they are good people who are prepared to work hard — and they are great company too. It has been a real challenge at times, having narrowly missed relegation on a number of occasions and it is frustrating that I have never really been able to spend sufficient time with the band to challenge for the prizes at the Areas.
That said, we have tasted success locally and have perfomed some excellent concerts."

Looking forward
Dave is now looking towards the future: "Now Kevin is ready to take the plunge and he will take the band to the areas in 2010 — hence it is time for me to look for a new challenge.
It would be nice to get back to working with a brass band on a more regular basis, and as I am now based back in the West of England, I hope to have the opportunity to work at the highest level of banding again soon."
Commit
Dave is the founder and Director of Music of the British Army Brass Band and currently serves with the Royal Signals Band in Blandford, Dorset.
He concluded: "Since I was commissioned in 2008, my feet haven't touched the ground professionally, but things have now settled sufficiently for me to be able to commit to brass banding fully again."
