Elland Silver Youth Band are celebrating after producing a winning performance at the Hardraw Scar Brass Band Festival.
Competing in the Fourth and Ungraded Band Section, the band was awarded took the honours adjudicator Kevin Wadsworth, who described the performance as a “top show” and was stunned by the capability of the young musicians.
20 minute programme
The band performed a 20 minute programme, which featured two of the bands talented young soloists.
Principal cornet player, Phillip Varley, aged 17, played the 'Adirondacks Polka' and the bands solo trombone player, Daniel Eddison, aged 14, performed 'Every Time We Say Goodbye'.

Debuts
Four new players made their debut with the band having been recently promoted from the Elland Silver Training Band and were delighted to collect the silverware.
Hat trick
This success completes a hat trick of wins for the band in the past year having been awarded first place in the entertainment division of the Action Youth Entertainment Championships in February and also first place in the Brighouse March Contest in July.
