The 51st annual contest organised by the North East Derbyshire District Council took place on Saturday 12th September, 2009 at the Dronfield Leisure Centre.
Well filled hall
In a well filled hall each band gave a 25 minute entertainment programme which were all well received by the audience, which included the leaders of most local authorities in the vicinity.
The Stannington Band retained its crown and has now won the entertainment contest three years in a row.

Winning programme
The varied winning programme featured solos from Principal Cornetist, Richard Dowling and trombonist Andrew Platts, as well as a duet for cornet and flugel horn by Stuart Croft and Kirsty Cooke. Music from 'Jurassic Park' provided a dramatic finale to the band’s winning performance.
The band were presented with the T H Hallworth Challenge Trophy and a cheque for £400. Second came Matlock (£300) and third came Blidworth (£150).
