Boroondara wins radio comp

First time contenders, Boroondara Brass win this years ABC Melbourne Evening Show brass band competition.

The 2009 ABC Melbourne Radio Evening Show Brass Band Competition was held on Wednesday 26 August.

For the fifth consecutive year, five bands battled it out in front of a live audience of over 300 listeners and brass enthusiasts.

Brass Bands competing were Darebin City Brass-Preston Band, Footscray Yarraville City Band, Kew Band Melbourne, Hawthorn Band and first time contenders — Boroondara Brass.

Boroondara Brass were announced as the 2009 Brass Band Competition winners.

Runners up were Kew Band Melbourne.

The ABC will be replaying the live broadcast on its online stream on Friday 28 August from 7pm — 10pm.
