The Cornwall Youth Brass Band has announced that their Music Co-ordinator, Brian Minear, has been elected as a Bard of the Cornish Gorsedd.

50 years

He will be initiated at the forthcoming Open Gorsedd at Longstone Park in Saltash, Cornwall in September.

Brian Minear has spent over fifty years, serving the amateur Brass Band Movement in Cornwall, as a player, conductor and above all as a teacher.

Oldest

Following several years as one of its tutor’s, in 2008 he took on the voluntary position of Music Co-ordinator of the Cornwall Youth Brass Band, responsible for all the musical aspects of this eighty strong Band, the oldest County Youth Band in the United Kingdom.
