Open Gala Concert details released

Details of the Gala Concert following the British Open in September have been released.

Symphony Hall
 

The first details of the Brass Band Gala Concert that will take place the day after the British Open Championships in Symphony Hall have been released.

Three bands will take to the stage on Sunday 13th September, for an afternoon brass music.

Sound of Music

Grimethorpe Colliery and Allan Withington will be joined by the choir from Hemsworth Arts and Community Centre to tell the story of Maria von Trapp. Grimethorpe's programme will include music showcased with the choir earlier in the year.

Treble winners

Cory will then feature music from Philip Sparke, Peter Graham and Gareth Wood. Robert Childs will also conduct flugel soloist in Dan Price's 'Moonbeams'.

Organ Symphony

Black Dyke will complete the line up with a programme including Rimmer's, 'The Australasian' and Peter Graham's 'Cats Tales'. Philip Wilby will be at the organ for the Finale of Saint Saens' Organ Symphony.

Finale

Black Dyke and Cory will then return to conclude the concert playing 'Medallion March' written by Harry Mortimer, Ronald Binge's 'Cornet Carillion' and the March from Respighi's 'Pines of Rome'.
