Milnrow to head north

United Co-op Milnrow to tackle 'fine' bands at Scottish Open.

Milnrow

The United Co-op Milnrow Band has accepted the invitation to compete in the 2009 Scottish Open in November.

MD, John Ward commented to 4BR: "This is an excellent opportunity for the band and gives us an opportunity to take on some very fine bands, some of which are in the British Open."

Working hard

John added: "Milnrow has not been North of the Border since its 2003 First Section National Finals appearance, so we will be working hard on our own-choice piece over the next few months with the aim of continuing our excellent contesting record, following our ‘area’ prize, Senior Trophy win and excellent Whit Friday outing."

This is an excellent opportunity for the band and gives us an opportunity to take on some very fine bands, some of which are in the British OpenMD, John Ward

Arrival

The band has also announced the arrival of some new players, with Jonny Cowans and Heather Crow joining the ranks.

An internal move has also taken place with Joey Williams moving from the front row to flugel and former flugel, Joanne Ward, adding her considerable experience and abilities to the solo cornet bench.
