Following a very successful year, the Greater Gwent Youth Brass Band, is now looking forward to performing at their Music Service 'Summer Showcase' in Cardiff on Monday and at the National Festival of Music for Youth on Thursday.

Third time

The band has been invited to the National Festival following their performance at the Regional Festival held in Cwmbran in March.

The band will be conducted by Philip Harper at both events, and this will be Philip’s third appearance with the band at the Festival.

We are very grateful for the time Philip puts in with the band and we now look forward to the release in the Autumn of the band’s first CD recorded last Christmas which Philip conductedGwent Music Service

CD launch

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We are very grateful for the time Philip puts in with the band and we now look forward to the release in the Autumn of the band’s first CD recorded last Christmas which Philip conducted."

Reunion Band

The CD will signal the launch of the band’s 50th anniversary year in 2010, and the band hope to form a Gwent Reunion Band as part of the celebrations.
