Hebden celebrate Whit success

Hebden Bridge Band are celebrating after a great Whit Friday experience.

Hebden Bridge

Hebden Bridge Band is celebrating after taking part in one of their best ever Whit Friday contesting days.

Braving the rain

After braving the wind and rain, the band managed to twist and turn its way around the villages of Saddleworth and Tameside, competing at eight venues on the course of the evening.

The band played consistently well throughout the night and despite the wet weather everyone enjoyed themselvesChairman, Ian Plant

First overall

The highlight of this year event was coming first overall at Broadoak, beating many respected Championship Section bands such as Fairey and Fodens, from a field of over 40 competitors.

Hebden played the march 'The Chieftain' by J Jubb on the road march and Shipley Douglas’ 'Mephistopheles' on the band stand. The band came seventh overall in the Tameside Championship.

Great

Band Chairman Ian Plant told 4BR: "This was a great Whit Friday for the band. Winning at Broadoak was a great achievement. The band played consistently well throughout the night and despite the wet weather everyone enjoyed themselves."
