Motor City Brass Band has announced the winners of its 2009 Solo & Scholarship Competition.

Scholorship

The competition draws high school brass players from around Southeastern Michigan to compete for a $500.00 scholarship and the opportunity to perform a solo with the band.

Grand prize

The Grand Prize was awarded to Kaitie Schoenfeldt (Euphonium) of Saline High School in Saline who wowed the judges with a superbly executed performance of Herman Bellstedt’s 'Napoli'.

She studies Euphonium with Matt Tropman, a lecturer in low brass at Eastern Michigan University, and receives training from her band director at Saline High School, Nate Lampman.
