I say goodbye to all of you and to this year’s European Brass Band Championship.
It has been a special privilege to listen to all 45 participating brass bands this weekend.
At times, a great challenge of concentration — but one I truly enjoyed!
All that remains is to thank everyone who followed the commentary, Iwan Fox from 4barsrest, and Nicki Tonge and the entire World of Brass team for the invitation and the opportunity to work together.
Always a pleasure!
See you next year in Switzerland!

Good sound quality, a solid dynamic range, and strong ensemble work.

A Time for Peace
A meaningful title for this work for tenor horn solo and brass band in the times we are currently living in, beautifully performed by the soloist and subtly accompanied by the brass band.
Great teamwork between soloist and ensemble.
Burn the Church
A good start from the Welsh with the test piece.
Some ensemble inconsistencies were noticeable. The textures were not always clearly heard, and in certain parts of the work, clarity was slightly affected.
A strong effort by the Welsh in their interpretation.
This year’s test piece for the Premiere Section presented an extremely demanding challenge for all participating bands.

In Valaisia Variants, the Welsh clearly demonstrated their sonic potential.
Their technique and great energy in interpreting this work were also evident.

A Little Prayer
A wonderful rendition of this beautiful work, where one of the percussionists on marimba took the lead as soloist, while the rest of the band, standing, sang the chorale in alternation with the percussionist, creating a very intimate and special atmosphere.
Without a doubt, a performance that will remain in the memory of those present today.
Thank you, Hordaland Ungdomsbrassband.
Children of Sanchez
Following the calm and spiritual atmosphere created by A Little Prayer, they launched—over the audience’s applause—into Children of Sanchez, bringing a great deal of energy and completely transforming the atmosphere of the Brucknerhaus here in Linz.
