David King is just the fifth conductor to secure the ‘Triple Crown’ of European, British Open and National titles.

1957: Born January 20th

1978: Appointed head of music at Lilydale Academy in Melbourne

1982: Played at British Open with Hawthorn Band

1982: Joins Black Dyke as a player

1983: Conductor of Swinton Concert Band

1983-1985: North of England Solo Champion

1985: Part of the Black Dyke ‘Grand Slam’ winning band

1985: Graduated from Salford College

1985: Directs Swinton Concert to Third Section National Championship title

1987: First of five consecutive British Open Cornet Solo Championship titles

1987: Makes British Open conducting debut with Kennedy Swinton – off the number 1 draw

1987: Makes National Finals conducting debut with Kennedy Swinton

1988: Appointed Head of Performance Studies at Salford University

1988: Directs Swinton Concert to Pontins Championship title
