More about Nicholas

Nicholas began playing the cornet when he was 6 years old, as a member of the Bristol Easton Salvation Army Young People's Band. His first public solo was just three months later!

Since then, Nicholas has performed in most of England's famous concert halls including; The Sage - Gateshead, Symphony Hall - Birmingham, The Royal Festival Hall, The Royal Albert Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Colston Hall, Bristol.

He has toured North America and Canada extensively, including a performance of Hummel's Trumpet Concerto at Harvard University. Nicholas has also toured most of Western Europe and Scandinavia.

Nicholas held the position of Music Scholar at Bristol Cathedral School and whilst a pupil there, joined Sun Life Band under Dr. Roy Newsome. After gaining a BA (Hons) degree from Middlesex University (tutored by Dr. Stephen Cobb), Nicholas held positions as principal trumpet of North London Philharmonic and Oak Hill Orchestra as well as joining First City Brass on repiano.

Nicholas' brass band honours include Swedish National Brass Champion, Butlins Mineworkers Open Champion and London and Southern Counties Champion. Nicholas is currently the Director of Music at Immanuel College, Bushey and plays with Redbridge Brass.

He has recently been accepted to ABBA (Association of Brass Band Adjudicators) having qualified through the well publicised trainee adjudicator scheme.
