All Signals point to Cosford

A free Open Day will be held at RAF Cosford to showcase the opportunities a career in the Royal Corps of Signals can offer for bandsmen and women.

Royal Signal Corps
A free Open Day will showcase the opportunities for players wishing to seek a career in the Corps of Army Music.

The Band of The Royal Corps of Signals will be holding a special 'Open Day' event at its base at RAF Cosford in Wolverhampton (WV7 3EX) later this month.

Star additions

Aided by the help of Yamaha artists Katrina Marzella and Simon Gresswell alongside Besson Artist Richard Marshall, the band, which is one of the three professional brass bands within the Corps of Army Music, hopes to showcase what it can offer for potential recruits (16 years of age upwards and Grade 6 standard) and those interested in a professional Army music career.

Free event

The free event (even the three course meal at the mess is just £1.60!) will see Katrina, Simon and Richard lead players in section workshops and masterclasses (from 9.00am — 4.00pm) as well joining them and the current band on looking closely at 'Pageantry' by Herbert Howells and other works.

World class performers

LCpl Sarah Frowen told 4BR: "We are delighted to be able to work alongside world class performers such as Katrina, Simon and Richard and we hope it will encourage as many people as possible to come along and enjoy the day.

The relaxed event is geared to showcase what a potential career in The Band of The Royal Corps of Signals has to offer players from the brass band movement — and we hope it will encourage further interaction between ourselves and many more brass bands as well."
