Lots more bands are playing their Olympic role in the Brass the Baton.

The ‘Brass the Baton’ project continues to make its way around the UK, with a host of bands taking part in the movement’s contribution to the 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

Latest

The latest is Coleshill Youth Band, who will be receiving the Red Baton as it makes its way from Preston on the weekend following the English National Championship.

The band will welcome John Squires Evans from Over Wyre Brass as he presents it on the platform of their local railway station. The band will be performing a celebratory concert later in the night before the baton moves on to Leicester and Foresters Brass on 24th June.

Isle of Man

Meanwhile, over in the Isle of Mann, Rushen Silver Band is also looking forward to play its part as one of the other batons makes its way by ferry from Liverpool to Douglas courtesy of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company.

From Douglas, the baton is being transported by steam train to Port Erin, where it will be used to help in a celebratory concert on June 20th

Tom Sinden told 4BR: "Everyone at Rushen Silver Band is really looking forward to taking part in the Brass the Baton relay.

We're delighted to be able to perform the piece during one of local concerts and have been grateful for the help we have received from the Steam Packet Company and the Isle of Man Railway."
