The Enderby Band organisation has been dishing out its 2009 Awards — and plenty of them there were too.

The Enderby Band organisation recently held their annual Social and Awards Presentation evening.

Awards

All five bands enjoyed a convivial evening, with the highlight, the presentation of awards to outstanding players and supporters.

The Junior Band 'Player of the Year' was Daniel Briars, whilst the Concert Band 'Player of the Year' Award was presented to trombonist Steve Lowe.

Congratulations

Youth Band MD, Trevor Hounsome, congratulated his band on performing at 36 events during 2009. The 'Section Award' went to percussionist's Greg Greenfield and Harry Morris.

The MD’s Award for 'Player of the Year' was won by solo cornet Vikki Day, whilst the 'Players’ Award', went to soprano player Paul Bosworth.

Wind Band

Sallyann Bartram, leader of the 45-strong Enderby Wind Band presented five awards – two of which went to the 'Most Improved Players' of the year, Alexandra Males and Julie Lamble.

Penny Harrison received an award for 'Outstanding Achievement', whilst the 'Section of the Year' went to the bass players and the 'Players Award', was presented to Clare Sanderson.

Senior Band

Enderby Senior Band MD Jonathan Mott presented his Award to bass trombonist Tom Chinnery, who also received the 'Players’ Award'.

Repiano cornet player Megan Roberts was presented with the 'Committee Award' for her outstanding contribution to the Band.

Senior Band baritone player Chris Stanley was presented with both the 'John & Doreen Sleath Memorial Award', and the 'Heather Townsend Shield', in recognition of his tireless work for the Senior Band over the past year.

Chairman's Award

Finally, the 'Chairman’s Trophy', was presented to the band player showing the most commitment during the year, solo cornet player James Screaton who started out with the Enderby Junior Band eight years ago.

Gifts were also presented to departing band members Jenny Hage and Simon Reeds.

June 11 • We are currently looking for a flugel horn player to help complete our team. We are a 4th section contesting band, with a busy schedule of contests and engagements coming up throughout the year.
