World Rankings: September Update

Plenty on movement in the latest rankings following the recent British Open Championship with Foden's moving up to 3rd place.

The latest update of the World of Brass — 4barsrest.com Rankings show significant movement near the top following last weekend’s British Open Championships in Birmingham.

Black Dyke and Cory consolidate their top-two positions, while Foden’s third victory at the event since 2004 sees the Cheshire band move into third place.

Top 10 Bands 1. Black Dyke 2. Cory 3. Foden's 4. Brighouse and Rastrick 5. Fairey 6. Tredegar 7. Leyland 8. Grimethorpe Colliery 9. Eikanger-Bjørsvik 10. Carlton Main Frickley Colliery

All three remain in the running to capture the coveted end-of-year top spot. Other significant movers since the last update include Midlands bands, Virtuosi GUS and Desford, which both solidified their positions in the British Open, while Woolston Brass’s victory at the New Zealand Championships sees it move up 46 places and German Champion 3BA a spectacular 52 places.

Other events taking place since the last update were:

New Zealand Band of the Year — won by Woolston Brass
Welsh National Eisteddfod — won by Melingriffith (City of Cardiff)
Land O' Burns — won by Co-operative Funeralcare

The next update will follow this year’s National Final at the Royal Albert Hall, where Brighouse and Rastrick will be chasing a first hat-trick of victories in the band’s history.
