World Rankings: September Update

A chance to familiarise yourself with the latest rankings prior to today's British Open.

The latest World of Brass — 4barsrest.com Rankings see few positional changes at the top, but plenty of activity at the conclusion of a busy summer of contesting around the banding world.

The contests held since the last update are:

New Zealand Championships — won by Wellington Brass;
SCABA Entertainment — won by Friary Guildford;
Merthy Tydfil Welsh League Contest — won by City of Cardiff (Melingriffith);
Aalborg Music Festival — won by Skanderborg Brass Band;
Weston-super-Mare — won by Verwood Concert Brass;
Wood Farm Brewery Contest — won by Enderby;
Northern Counties BBA — won by Bon Accord Silver;
Ripon Cathedral Contest — won by Slaithwaite;
Holme Valley Contest — won by City of Bradford;
Dutch Open Championships — won by Brass Band Rijnmond;
West Lothian Festival of Brass — won by Whitburn;
French Open — won by Nord Pas de Calais;
German Open — won by Brass Band Schwaben;
Land O' Burns — won by Whitburn;
Battle of the Bands — won by Dronfield;
Surventobrass — won by Spijkerpakkenband;
Ohio Brass Arts Festival — won by Brass Band of Columbus;
DLI Museum Contest — won by Easington Colliery;
Whiston Festival of Brass — won by Strata Brass;
Shirebrook Entertainment Contest — won by Enderby;

An update will follow the British Open and the National Finals for Sections 1-4 at Cheltenham. Look out for quite a few changes, with the possibility of a new number one band if Black Dyke can retain the British Open title.

May 1 • We have vacancies for a Euphonium player and a Trombone player due to relocation. We are a friendly 4th Section Band, located in Irlam, Salford [M44 6RB]. Quality instruments are available for use. Players of other instruments will be welcome
