World Rankings: May update

Following its third successive victory at the European Championships in Linz a fortnight ago, Cory Band has extended its considerable lead at the top of the rankings.

Eikanger-Bjørsvik’s second place sees the Norwegian giant move into the top five for the first time ever while the home favourite, Brass Band Oberösterreich, moves into tenth position after its third place.

The other ranking contests taking place since the last update are:

North American Championships—won by Fountain City
Irish Championships—won by Drogheda
Australian Championships—won by Brisbane Excelsior
Tameside Open—won by Hammonds Saltaire
Cornwall Entertainment Contest—won by Mount Charles
SCABA Spring Contest—won by Friary Guildford
Flemish Open—won by Brass Band Willebroek
Fife Festival of Brass—won by Kingdom Brass
Grenland Entertainment Contest—won by Mount Charles
Cornish Brass Band Championships—won by St. Dennis
Buxton Brass Band Festival—won by GT Group Peterlee.

The next update will follow the All-England Masters International and will also include last weekend’s Spring Festival results, which always cause considerable mid-table movement.
