Langbaurgh goes back to its roots

The Langbaurgh Band has returned to its original roots with a change of name and return of MD Tim Oldroyd.

Oldroyd

From October 1st, Langbaurgh Brass is re-naming itself North Skelton Band, a change that also coincides with the return of Tim Oldroyd as Musical Director.

Former success

Tim was responsible for much of the bands past success and it is hoped those great times can return once more.

Langbaurgh was formed in the early 1980's as a junior band for the old North Skelton Band which went on to be sponsored by British Steel Teesside.

As the British Steel Band no longer exists and we now rehearse in the old bandroom which goes back to the pit years, we thought it apt to go back to our rootsSecretary, Josie Coupland

Old players

Contest Secretary Josie Coupland told 4BR: "As the British Steel Band no longer exists and we now rehearse in the old bandroom which goes back to the pit years, we thought it apt to go back to our roots. The band hopes to hold a concert in the near future to invite old players along to either listen or play."
