Quick acting tuba addition at St Austell

St Austell add to their tuba section after James Kenney decides on a quick response...

James Kenney
James acted quickly to ensure he filled the tuba spot at St Austell.

St Austell Town has announced the arrival of their brand new EEb tuba signing James Kenny.

James (above) previously enjoyed a successful time with the Longridge Band, but a move to the South West saw him enquire about a role at St Austell — one that he filled within 24 hours of asking!

Looking forward

He told 4BR: "I'm delighted to join the band as they prepare for a new chapter in its history.

I'm looking forward to working with both resident MD David Nicholson and professional conductor Steve Sykes, as well as the tuba team which is already providing a great foundation."

Positive vibe

Band spokesperson Anna Minear added: "We have undergone quite a few changes over the past few months, but there is a very positive vibe amongst everyone.

We were thrilled when James contacted us, and even more so when we heard the quality of his playing. We now look forward to working towards the SWBBA Contest on 4th November."
