St John's Mossley benefit from Trust award

The St John's Mossley Band has benefited from an award from the Norman Jones Trust administered by Brass Bands England.

New instruments
A Norman Jones Trust Award means new instruments for new players at St John's Mossley

St John's Band Mossley has been presented with an award from the Norman Jones Trust administered by Brass Bands England.

Excited

A Band spokesperson said: "We are very excited that we have recently received funding from The Norman Jones Trust for our 'Brass for Brass' appeal. This has enabled us to purchase five new trombones for our training band and will give our learners the amazing start that they deserve.

They added: "The funding will have an impact on many learners for several generations to come as the trombones have a life span of many years with good maintenance.

Our current instruments have been used by past generations of players and are still used today."

Applications

Applications to the Norman Jones Trust Fund can be made for:

New music commissions, especially from new or young composers

Working with other art forms and in particular, to fund capital items

Working with disadvantaged groups

Assistance for students to help with musical education

Projects which will have a lasting effect on the brass band movement/applicants

Individuals applying for grants from the trust must prove that they are members of a Brass Bands England member band.
