Blaenavon gain new lead with Turner appointment

Blaenavon Town Band has announced the appointment of Lynne Turner as their new MD.

Blaenavon Town Band has announced the appointment of their new MD, Lynne Turner.

Lynne will take up the role with immediate effect and will lead the Torafen band at the forthcoming Welsh League contest in Fishguard.

Conducting name

The vastly experienced player has already made a name for herself as a conductor, leading the Crwbin Band from West Wales to renewed success before recently stepping down from the role.

Focus

Band Chairperson Lucinda Gough told 4BR: "We are so pleased to welcome Lynne as our new MD and look forward to working together.

After an unsettled few months, her enthusiasm and experience has come at a perfect time and we are now focused on the Fishguard contest with a renewed sense of confidence."

The band has also extended its gratitude to David Langley who took on the role as MD for the summer period. He will now continue to play tuba with the band as well as conducting orchestras and ensembles throughout South Wales.

May 20 • Audley Brass are seeking a Principal Cornet player to lead the band into the First Section in 2025. The band have several fantastic events in the diary including the National Finals and no less than 6 of our epic beer festival sing-along nights.
