University delight at Thornton nominations

The University of Salford has offered its congratulations to David Thornton on his recent award winning success — with maybe more to come...

David Thornton

The University of Salford has informed 4BR that they are delighted that David Thonton has been nominated for three annual 4BR Awards as well as already winning a brace of 'Best Solo CD of the Year' titles from Brass Band World and British Bandsman magazines.

Solo CD of the Year

David's 'Parallel Realities' release has been nominated in the 4BR 'CD of the Year' category, whilst his emerging reputation as a top class adjudicator, which just last month saw him judge in the Championship Section of the Swiss National Championship, sees him nominated in the 'Best Newcomer of the Year' category. He is also nominated in the 'Player of the Year' category.

Enjoyed

David was recently appointed as a supervisor for postgraduate studies at the University, with Dr Robin Dewhurst, Programme Leader for the DMA at Salford telling 4BR: "I thoroughly enjoyed the process of supervising David's doctoral research in which the 'Parallel Realities' CD was created alongside a range of innovative live performances presented on the international stage.

We celebrate his success and value his input as he continues to work at the cutting edge of his field."
