New signings boost Blaenavon

A new quartet of signings boost Blaenavon ahead of Welsh Area.

Blaenavon

Blaenavon Town Band has announced a number of new signings.

Jeff Jones comes in on solo cornet, Alisa Rogers on 2nd cornet, Anthony Bartley on Bb bass and Krishan Church on percussion.

Welcome

Band spokesperson Lucinda Gough told 4BR: "The band welcome our new players and look forward to working hard for our preparations for this year’s Area competition in Llandudno.

These signings means the band will go to the Welsh Area competition with a full set of players for the first time in many years.

In particular the signing of Anthony Barley on Bb bass means the band will now have a full bass section since the death of John Ford in 2010."

I’m delighted to welcome the players to the band, each of whom brings vast quality to their sectionMD, James Jones

Quality

Conductor James Jones added: "I’m delighted to welcome the players to the band, each of whom brings vast quality to their section.

They have settled straight in, sharing the same commitment and passion as longstanding members."
