2003 4BR Awards: Introduction

Just before you all pack away your instruments (a la Blue Peter tortoise) for their traditional winter hibernation, the time has come again for the ever so traditional 4BR Awards.

OK – we know everyone else has awards ceremonies, and ours are only traditional because we have done them for the last couple of years, but we think they hold a special place in all your hearts. Either that or it gives you a good opportunity to laugh at our nominations.

We have a number of categories for you to vote on and we have given five nominations that we think deserve to be taken into consideration. You don’t of course need to agree with us (who ever does eh?) but it should give you some idea of the calibre of contenders for the top prizes.

We will this year make sure that the winners actually get something from us to put on the mantelpiece or in the trophy cabinet in the bandroom – so get the acceptance speeches ready.

The awards come in the following categories:

• Band of the Year
• Conductor of the Year
• Player of the Year
• Band CD of the Year
• Lower Section Band of the Year
• Newcomer of the Year
• Test Piece of the Year
• Contest Performance of the Year
• Solo CD of the Year

And also our special award

• The 4BR Special Award

- FULL RESULTS WILL APPEAR ON CHRISTMAS DAY

Take the time to read each of the categories [see above] , and then make your choice on our 4BR Awards voting form below.

We will tot them up and give you’re the results of the best awards in the business on Xmas day itself – just after the Queens speech when you are full to the brim with turkey and Christmas pudding.
